So now it is empty, and I have access to it, and I can back-up files if I wish, but I won’t be password protecting it again. I discovered that after putting in the wrong password too often, it allowed me to delete it, so that is what I did. if you have forgotten the password, the information stored on the hard drive cannot be retrieved due to the encryption. The WD security protection is a 256-bit AES encryption, and there is no “forgot password” option to reset the password.
